Vermont - Bradford

Bradford, VT

The Woods Library was built in 1895 in the crook of Main Street and South Main Street - yes, two different and intersecting streets.

These are considered the "lower" Waits River Falls, just a set of rapids under the Main Street/US Route 5 bridge. The river flattens as it winds east to the Connecticut River.

The Mill - so I guess there was just one here - is at the corner of the lower falls. I would have thought the upper falls would provide better power.

See here the more notable upper falls, visible from a field opposite the mill and just down Main Street from the library. Short of cutting down or climbing trees on steep, unstable cliffs, this is the only falls view you can get.
