Victoria - Geelong

Geelong

Coming into town from the south on the old Princes Highway (A10), I spot St. Mary of the Angels Basilica (left) and St. George's Presbyterian (right) on the Geelong "skyline." The basilica dates to 1937 and is the tallest building in Geelong as well as the tallest bluestone spire in Australia. St. George's dates to 1861 but its spire is contemporaneous with its competitor, erected in 1936.

Various dusk and dawn views of Kardinia Park, the home of all major Geelong sports (Australian rules football, soccer football, netball, cricket).

An idea of the enormous scale of the stadium lighting. Unlike American stadiums, Australian ones tend to be lit from standalone exterior poles.

Two of the buildings along the west side of Latrobe Terrace (Highway A10 in town), across from Kardinia Park.
