The northern approach into town yields this view of the 1927 Sonner-Payne Hall at Randolph-Macon Academy. The modern Turner Hall occludes it.


The courthouse is even newer, at 1936, though the monument in front dates to 1911. The crossed flags should tell you it belongs to the War Between the States, if you can't read the 1861 and 1865 dates.
