Tasmania - Marakoopa Cave

Marakoopa Cave

Photos are generally in the order I encountered them, subject to artistic licence. I'm not narrating the rock formations in the cave. Just enjoy them all, whether stringy, pointy, or moist.

Starting our walk to the cave with a waratah tree.

Following Marakoopa Creek upstream to the cave. It's Mole Creek that goes inside, though.

A male Tasmanian cave spider greets us at the entrance.

The last 2 photos are top and bottom of the same formation.

The last photo is a closeup of the one prior.

One part of the cave featured fossils.

The grand attraction of the cave is the Grand Cathedral. Click on either photo for a closeup.

The other attraction of the cave is the glow worms on the ceiling. All the lights go out, and obviously flash photography would ruin the effect. I spy a dozen worms in this photo. How many do you see?
