New Zealand - Mt. Taranaki

Mount Taranaki

Photos progress northward on Highway 3, which runs from south of the mountain around the east. Mt. Taranaki (formerly Egmont) is an active volcano with one of the most symmetrical cones in the world. Because of that, Egmont National Park has a circular boundary with only a few interruptions, the Pouakai Range to the NNW being the most notable.

First good view is from Manutaki.

From north of Hawera to north of Eltham.

Last views are just north of Inglewood. The Pouakai Range is now visible to the right (north) of Mt. Taranaki.
