All photos are taken heading northward on Highway 1.


First glimpses of the majestic range are from Peketa, where I end up over the Kahutara River and look left in the last photo.


Last photo looks west at the range I'm paralleling.


Between Peketa and Kaikoura, the road briefly hides from the beautiful scenery, but still manages to look weird doing so.


Starting in Kaikoura and ending with a series of 5 photos to my left.


Last photo looks back west - after crossing the Hapuku River, Highway 1 heads east a short distance, directly away from the Seaward Kaikoura Range.


Last northward scenic glimpses can be found after Mangamaunu. This entire page barely spans 30 km.


And then there's the outlier. Taking a big jump north to the Clarence River crossing, this is the one time Highway 1 is not hemmed in by smaller coastal hills and affords a last view of the northern end of the Seaward Kaikouras.
