New York - NYC High Line - 2

Photos off the High Line

Approaching the southern end of the High Line, these photos look up from 13th St. at Washington St.

Now looking up the Gansevoort St. stairs to the southern truncated end of the old West Side Line.

Looking west at piers current and former.

Looking east at buildings current along 14th, 15th, and 16th Streets respectively.

I found this building interesting at the northeast corner of 10th Ave. at 17th St.

Newer architecture to the left and right, facing north.

Continuing north along the east side of 10th Ave., even as the High Line leaves it toward the west.

Looking west and east between warehouses and a church.

More interesting buildings off the port bow.

Coming up on 23rd St. and the apartment equivalent of row housing. The Empire State Building and the Metropolitan Building loom in the background.

Looking back south toward the modern building I saw earlier, now in context, then more to the north and northeast.

One more old building to the east near the end of the line at 30th St.

Angel Cat predates the High Line, but now she watches over it and brings its visitors joy. Not at all creepy joy.

From east to west, this is a short spur that is the last piece of the High Line to be rejuvenated as a park. 30th St. is below.

The western leg continues up and around to 34th St., and opened in 2014 about two years after I came through. I think the zebra boxes store park materials, but they are interesting in their own right as an art installation. I'll check when I revisit, but I imagine they're gone now.

A lot of work to be done yet.

Back on the ground, looking west at the High Line bridge over 30th St.

Looking east from the same point at the spur bridge over 30th, then walking east and ending with a look back west.
