North Dakota - Devils Lake

Devils Lake

Heading north on Highway 57, leaving Fort Totten for the blue waters of Devils Lake, which Highway 57 virtually floats upon on a narrow causeway, panning from left to right. The small pond of Sweetwater Lake is to the right.

The highway heads generally east around the contour of the lake, except the last photo looks northwest.

As the highway turns north again, Mission Bay appears on the right and the highway strikes out across the center of Devils Lake, no longer keeping it only on the left. Devils Lake was known as Spirit Lake by the native tribe, but the name was corrupted to "Bad Spirit" and thus "Devil".

I'm not on Devils Lake, but I'm in (the city of) Devils Lake. The Happy Hooligans are in front of DVL, Devils Lake Regional Airport.
