California - Old US 99 - Shasta Valley

Former US 99, Shasta Valley

Photos follow my travel southward.

Heading south from Yreka, the base of Antelope Mountain is to the west.

From east to northeast, Miller Mountain past Goosenest (the R-rated peak) to Willow Creek Mountain.

Mt. Shasta sits to the southeast between Garner Mountain (left) and Black Butte (right).

Starting at that silly Goosenest, panning around to the Scott Mountains in Shasta-Trinity National Forest to the southeast.

Another pan from Shasteast across the Scott Mountains to the northwest.

All southward until the last photo looks east.

From southwest to east, ending past Mt. Shasta at Goosenest and Willow Creek Mountain again. I really can't get enough Goosenest.

As I creep closer to Mt. Shasta, the new companion on the east is The Whaleback, but it's still Black Butte to the west.

You've seen all these before, from southeast to west nearing Weed.

Onto Old Stage Road beyond Weed, Rainbow Ridge is ahead to the south and our same friends still to the east. I'm now alongside Black Butte.

The closest views of Mt. Shasta are found heading into the eponymous city. I mean, unless you go hike it.

Castle Crags are to the south leaving town, panning among the Scott Mountains that are still to the west.
