I-840, or TN 840 at the time I took the photos, was intended to have a much longer northern segment around Nashville, nearly touching Kentucky. All you get from that is this stub at the west end, since a combination of terrain costs and local opposition has killed most hope of ever extending or completing the route.


I hope a condition of Interstate designation was replacing these signs. It's not just the "y". It's the margins on all sides.
