South Australia Roads - M2 - S

M2, Southern Expwy. - Southern construction

All photos are southbound.

Starting at Moore Road on the south side of Reynella. Yes, Sherriffs is spelled with two r's here.

Interestingly, the former roundabout at the bottom of the Sherriffs Rd. ramp was replaced with a signalised intersection when M2 was dualised.

The motorway occasionally shifted to the right to facilitate construction of a new left-hand exit ramp where there was an existing (reversible) right-hand ramp.

The O'Sullivan Beach Rd. overpass appears to be as far as the land has been properly cleared, or maybe they were just having trouble blasting away all the rocks here. Funny, they did a good job clearing out the rock cut farther north (on the northern page, big link at bottom).

Plenty of work going on in Christie Downs, where a new pedestrian crossing and Flaxmill Rd. are simultaneously under construction in halves.

Looking back north at the future Flaxmill Rd. bridge. Elizabeth Rd. was the likely detour, less than 1 km to the south.

Speak of the devil, here we already are at Elizabeth Rd.

Former (reversible) exit ramp to the right, new ramp to the left once more, at Beach Rd. in Noarlunga.

I cropped these Beach Rd. photos so that you can see the same sort of signals on Beach Rd. as you saw on the main page along M2. These appear to be for the former roundabout at the interchange, though I'm not clear on when these turned red. Maybe only during rush hour? Each bidirectional ramp entrance to the roundabout was split into a "Y" with a gate that would close the roundabout exit in the direction acting as the motorway exit ramp.

The future Beach Rd. left-side onramp and the downstream pedestrian overpass.

From the top of this hill, I can see all of the remaining bridges: Honeypot Rd. and two more pedestrian bridges for a total of 4 nonmotorised crossings.

Clearly this is the original Honeypot Rd. bridge that needs to be replaced, as the western pier sits in the future M2 NB.

Oh, look, the speed limit's up from 60 to 80! Let's all... oh, never mind, road's ending. There is no A13 SB entry to M2 NB at this end, but M2 SB traffic can turn left to A13 NB.
