New I-195/US 6 - Providence River Bridge

February 16, 2007

Walking up to the bridge via the future eastbound lanes.

Providence from the east side of the bridge, looking north.

Closer, closer, now on the concrete for the bridge approach.

Looking east from each of the westbound and eastbound lanes.

Details of the Main Street underpass.

More eastbound views, coming straight out of the bridge in the westbound lanes.

Close shot of the westbound deck with temporary cover where the bridge joint has not yet been installed. I really took this photo upside-down, behind me as I walked away from the bridge.

Okay, enough stalling, looking west in the eastbound lanes from directly on top of the corrugated steel ribbing that forms the gritty bits of the bridge deck.

Across the last section of still-unpoured eastbound approach, and then continuing west on that side of the bridge.

How else to close this page than with a skyline photo from the center of the bridge in the waning afternoon hours?

Driving the bridge eastbound, and the WB side is still not open. The retro columns on either side of the bridge are a classy touch.
