New I-195/US 6 - Providence River Bridge Approaches

The Providence River Dam is just north of the new bridge and the new India Point Park (as of 2010, when the photos above were taken) is a perfect vantage point for it.

All photos below were taken February 16, 2007.

Looking west from the middle of the I-195 offramp and then from the middle of the I-195 onramp, with current I-195 on the right.

Now into the tunnel, walking the wrong way down the I-195 onramp toward a reconnected Benefit St. and then Main St.

Turned around the right way, eastward.

Through the piers on the right side of the onramp tunnel, looking at the mouth of the Seekonk River.

Out the beginning of the onramp, standing in India St. and looking west at the new bridge.

Walking east along India St., with the I-195 offramp gently coming back to Earth on the left.

Classy texture from a simple material. All-purpose Styrofoam to the rescue! Just make sure to pretend it's concrete.

Beyond all the ramps, finally at the foot of the bridge itself. You'll have to visit the link below to actually get on the bridge.

Just as a further tease, photos walking down off the bridge, back toward the twisting ramps again. In these photos, the onramp tunnel is to the right, and the Exit 3 offramp would fly over it from this height. The roof of the tunnel is getting built up with enough rebar to handle offramp traffic.
