Pennsylvania Roads - Retreat Bridge

Retreat Bridge

Heading east from US 11 across the Retreat Bridge, so named because it leads to the Retreat State Correctional Institute. I think that comes from the same naming philosophy as Greenland. Is the bridge slippery when icy or only when wet? Can I ever not worry?

Looking north along the Susquehanna River.

Looking east at a turkey hen and the end of some ancient guiderail.

The best views of the bridge are from the penitentiary. Just don't do anything wrong while you're there.

Click to cross back west and enjoy the sound of the steel grate deck.
