Pennsylvania Roads - Jordan Creek bridges - N. Whitehall

Jordan Creek bridges, North Whitehall Twp.

Just like with the South Whitehall page, I'm starting simple with a pleasant 1929 truss on Kernsville Rd. WB. It's right next to Grist Mill Rd. so I'm guessing that the stone building was a grist mill.

Onto Jordan Rd., heading west to Rex's Bridge.

Sexy Rexy was built in 1858. Photos start on the south side and walk under to the north side.

Looking south along Jordan Creek, looking east at the bridge portal.

Jordan Rd. curves north and then turns into Old Packhouse Rd. to head east across Geiger's Bridge, still across Jordan Creek. As you can see, this unit dates to 1860.

Walking back west through the bridge.

A couple more views from the west side. The "Geiger's Bridge" sign already has the 1860 date on it. Why was another plaque needed? This one's clearly fine! (This is sarcasm.)

Here's the last one, Schlicher's Bridge on Game Preserve Rd. It's the newest, at 1882, but in the poorest condition, and was sadly replaced with a replica after my visit. Given the well-maintained conditions of the other bridges, I wonder if this was damaged by a storm.

Walking north across the bridge, since I can't drive it, and looking west along Jordan Creek.

The creek is dammed to the east, flowing toward the other bridges you saw on this and the South Whitehall page.

The north bridge entrance.

Looking west from the parallel pedestrian bridge, you can see some of why this bridge had to be closed. This part of the roof was approaching collapse! The underpinnings remained solid, though.
