Oregon Roads - Old US 99 - Jackson Co.

Former US 99, Jackson County

This stub of US 99 heads north from OR 66 and the north end of OR 273 into Emigrant Lake.

Starting south on an early alignment from OR 273 toward the California border. The earliest incarnation of the Pacific Highway used a westerly route to Cole and Hilt, CA. That was moved east to the I-5 corridor in 1920, onto this route (Jefferson Rd.). It stayed on this twisty alignment until 1941, when it was moved down onto what was improved into the modern freeway. The last photos look west at the Siskiyou Mountains and, in California, Klamath National Forest.

There is no marking at the CA border, but this is about it.
