Ontario Roads - Welland Canal Pkwy.

Welland Canal Parkway

Looking south at Glendale Ave., Niagara RR 89. The Parkway is the easiest way to link the northern crossings of the canal, almost all of which are drawbridges (versus the many tunnels to the south).

One northward and two southward views of the Garden City Skyway, Queen Elizabeth Way arching high over the canal. The QEW used the Queenston St. bridge (which you'll see in a moment) until this structure was built high over the clearance of the largest ships. You can see the low bridge on the south side of the QEW, behind the barge in the first photo.

A better view of Queenston St. (Niagara RR 81) in front of its big brother.

And thanks to the approaching barge, up goes the drawbridge as I look south from under the QEW. Here's why the QEW didn't run across the low bridge for very long.

Looking northward along the Welland Canal, dubbed Highway H2O with copious tacky, blue, quasi-Interstate shields erected everywhere from pathways to drawbridges. I debated showing you one, but they're just too tacky.
