Oklahoma Roads - Old OK 18 (US 177/OK 3W) - S. of Pearson

Former OK 18 (now US 177 and OK 3W) south of Pearson

Photos progress southward and face south until the last two.

Just like north of Pearson, there's a bunch of old concrete and an occasional old sign.

There's a long dead end past OK 39 in Asher that heads down to the former Cat Creek crossing. Even after what's now US 177/OK 3W bypassed this old alignment, there was still a connection to the new road just north of the Canadian River for a number of years, but once the old bridge was retired (whether removed, or closed, or washed away, I don't know), it was never replaced. The few people left here have to go up to Asher and back down the modern highway. Incidentally, check out the condition of the road as you get toward the end. That poor homeowner at the end is going to have one heck of a time selling his house, let alone getting anyone to see the For Sale sign. Maybe it's still on the market, if you like isolation and old alignments.

Heading back north on the dead end.
