New York Roads - NY 144

NY 144

NY 144 begins in Greene County, swinging over from US 9W into New Baltimore. CR 61 continues south from there along the Hudson River down to NY 385 (old 9W) in West Coxsackie. The oddity of CR 61 isn't this shield, but the fact that there are two parallel 61s - River Rd. (the new alignment) and Main St. (the original). Both begin SB at NY 144, and while I didn't take River Rd., this shows that at least Main St. is still signed as 61.

NB into Coeymans, but NY 143 is the main entrance into town from the west. NY 144 looks quite run down, but Coeymans looks quaint and pretty from 143.

Old SB signs on the south side of town.

NB at one of the most random, unnecessary interchanges on the Thruway. Ostensibly serving Selkirk via NY 396, there's really no traffic going there or anywhere along NY 144, compared to the nearby exits for Albany and Coxsackie. (I'll ignore the Berkshire Connector, which has its own purpose.)
