New York Roads - Dyre Ave., Bronx
Dyre Avenue, Bronx
![](dyre.jpg)
Right at the city/county line with Mt. Vernon, 5th Ave. becomes Dyre Ave. with one of the only remnants of New York's color-coded era. Bronx was white on blue, Queens was the opposite, Brooklyn was black instead of blue, and Manhattan and Staten Island shared black on yellow.

Back north again to Light St. The flashing yellow arrow is slightly more visible while driving than it appears in this photo.

And wouldn't you know it, among all that metal, there's a second blue sign, and in much better condition! I know of no other street with as many as one sign of this age.
