Originally there was no multiplex here at all. Improvements to the Northeast Corridor railroad led to the multiplex, and there was also historically a railroad perpendicular to the Northeast Corridor crossing through this area.

Southeastern End

501 meets 27 south of downtown Metuchen to cross the Northeast Corridor.


27 south/501 east where they split. 27 south continues straight.
