Whatever this is, it grows by the southern end of the old Back Landing Road bridge at Hunting Creek.


An old bridge, indeed. Back Landing Rd. once crossed here from Dorchester County into Caroline County. I doubt that there was ever a thin layer of pavement across the bridge; what shows up in the third photo is probably some bleed from the southern approach. Notice how one of the counties took out a section of bridge to make it less attractive to cross. Just looking at the rest of the "intact" deck, I think it's plenty unattractive.
