Massachusetts Roads - Lowell bridges

Lowell bridges

South on the Bridge St. Bridge, now the John E. Cox Memorial.

NB across the bridge, built in 1937 by the American Bridge Company.

Looking southeast along the Merrimack River. Lowell thrived by industry and nearly died by it.

Bridge St. NB at MA 38, which goes right and straight at this four-way intersection. VFW Highway goes west along the river and picks up MA 113 west of Dracut.

VFW Highway WB at the next bridge upstream, the Ouellete Bridge. It's a twin cantilever arch with a unique braided appearance (or "fishlike" if you hate bridges, artistry, and me).

Turning SB across the Ouellette Bridge.
