West Street's signs come in pairs. The latter two are not, in fact, at Whitin Machine Works, which is a former mill across MA 146 in Whitinsville (named after the works, not vice versa). What West St. does have is Whitin Reservoir, which is about where you would find these signs - in other words, the mill owned the reservoir and some of the land downstream and controlled the dammed water for its needs, and erected these signs sometime before it stopped operating in the 1970s.


West St. runs into NW Main St. as it gets to the reservoir, and these signs can then be found.
