It's pretty clear from this bridge's alignment and age that at least the southern part of KY 244 was part of US 23 originally. As I head over the riverside railroad to drop into downtown Russell, check out the old Ironton-Russell Bridge in the background, a sight you won't see anymore.


Among the old sights in Russell is Main Street paved in brick and the exit from Poplar Alley.


KY 244 continues to Worthington, but US 23 historically turned on KY 2543 to head back under the railroad out of town, so I encourage you to do the same by clicking below.
