Illinois Roads - IL 26

IL 26 meets I-180 on the east side of the Illinois River and uses it to cross. Go straight and you quickly run out of pavement at this former steel plant. This was the impetus for building an Interstate spur here, but it closed shortly after that opened and only briefly reopened in the early 2000s.

Heading south from there, the state doesn't feel a whole lot different than in 1811, but the sign is actually indicating IL 18, which uses the upcoming Henry Bridge.

IL 26/29 NB. Dear Illinois, JCT is before you get to a route, not after you're on it. You can junction the Princeton Spur if you want, since the main trail stays on IL 29.
