Misc. Photos

The sun sets on IA 5 on the south side of Des Moines.

Dualization ending just north of I-80 Exit 182, taken in 1976 by Michael Summa. Since 1976, development has pushed north a bit from this photo, and dualization may have pushed farther north as well.

Even today, Iowa prefers 2-digit width shields and wooden posts. Second photo courtesy Jeremy Lance.

Two Iowa county route signs, both on my wall. The second is from Newton Co.

Two Y-lettered county routes, CR Y32 and either Y42 or Y4E, NB. Iowa uses an alphabetic grid system, Y being toward the east side of the state, and typically two digits follow, but sometimes a letter sneaks in there.

Marion CR T17 NB at CR G46, about 70% of the way down the state. It doesn't really matter which county I'm in, because route numbers don't reset.

Floyd Rd. WB at 330th Ave. in Delaware County (northwest of Dyersville), and Water St. NB in Quasqueton (a great town name).
