Madison County: Imes, Holliwell, Cutler-Donahue, Roseman Bridges

The 1870 Imes Bridge, first of the six remaining Bridges of Madison County that this page features. It's not just a movie!

The other (south) side of the bridge, then back north on Imes Bridge Rd. to former IA 251.

The 1880 Holliwell Bridge over the Middle River, seen heading west on the old, closed Holliwell Bridge Rd.

Views from the modern road, looking southwest.

There's a random truss span sitting in the middle of the clearing between the old and new roads by 225th Trail. These photos look northeast from the old road, east of Holliwell Bridge.

And a view from the modern road.

Winterset itself is probably responsible for these signs, leading into town from Holliwell Bridge via Court Ave.

The 1870 Cutler-Donahue Bridge, or Cutler-Donahoe according to whoever had the last paintbrush, side, front, and back. Obviously, this is one of the bridges that was moved from its original crossing for preservation.

South on the dirt Roseman Bridge Trail to - guess what? - the 1883 Roseman Bridge, also over the Middle River, and once part of an actual road.

The south (NB) face of the bridge.

Down the side of the bridge and looking east along Middle River.

Elderberry Ave. north from the bridge to Roseman Bridge Rd.
