California Roads - Olinda Rd., Anderson

Olinda Road, Anderson

Heading south from South Street to a feature you'll see shortly, I happened upon these concrete arches by the light of dawn. This is a very rare case of a waterway bridging over a road! The Anderson Cottonwood Irrigation District built this in 1918 as part of a canal to funnel water 35 miles from the Sacramento River in Redding.

More views from Volonte Park just east of Olinda Road.

One from the south side.

The reason I came down Olinda Rd. was for this old alignment. Photos pan from west to east.

And the pièce de résistance, the old alignment's old bridge over an old creek. The alignment is gone, the creek is gone, and the bridge is crumbling.
