California Roads - CA 1 - Pt. Mugu-Vandenberg AFB

Point Mugu to Vandenberg AFB

NB button copy at Exits 108-109. CA 1 is far enough from the coast around Oxnard that the Coastal Scenic Drive isn't 1.

Some SB signs from there.

NB up to what became Exit 113, at least briefly. CA 1 has since been rerouted to Rice Ave. on the east side of Oxnard, though it took several years from the decommissioning inside the city.

SB up to Exit 110. Channel Islands Blvd. is the second right, which probably was the original message on that sign, but Rose Ave. is definitely a shortcut.

Left and right sides of an overhead intersection assembly, with the bonus that they're both button copy! Enjoy now, because with CA 1 removed, their days are numbered.

Interesting way to trailblaze to a train station. Interesting and wrong. CA 1 soon meets up with US 101 to head through Ventura.

CA 1 briefly exits US 101 north of Ventura to serve a few beaches. North of where it gets back on the freeway, there's this stub of the old Pacific Coast Hwy.

The next multiplex is considerably longer, through Santa Barbara up to Las Cruces. This photo is SB in Las Cruces where CA 1 SB joins US 101 SB.

CA 1 NB joins CA 246 WB through Lompoc. I'm not a fan of the font on the new sign, but I like the old one.

Alone again, CA 1 NB leaves the Lompoc area across the Santa Ynez River.

CA 1 SB bears right in the same place CA 1 NB turned left in the previous photo. The road ahead to Buellton is Purisima Rd., a cutoff to CA 246 EB.

NB button copy into the air force base.

Corresponding SB signs.

Continuing north through the base.
