Ontario Roads - Highway 58A

The two shields atop the page lead from Highway 140 to Highway 58A via Reaker Rd. The first is the only crown variant shield I saw on the highway. Based on the Highway 58A ENDS sign in the EB direction, I now have to doubt whether 58A makes it all the way up to 140 or ends right at RR 525, but I still favor the former interpretation so that the connecting links would have a reason to be province-maintained.

Looking east along what may be the highest number signed on a Regional Road. (They go up to 681, so I can't be sure until I've tried them all.)

WB through Townline Tunnel under Welland Canal. Given the high clearance requirement of the canal and the fact that it's already built up on embankment, tunneling under it is a simple affair that doesn't even trouble with the water table. In fact, the Welland River itself tunnels under the canal!
