Ohio Roads - OH 2 - W. of I-90 - EB

OH 2 EB west of I-90

OH 2 starts out as a puny 2-lane road, hopping between concurrencies as it struggles to make a name for itself. Here it's riding with OH 191 NB.

Fulton County runs its county routes on a strict mile grid, only disappearing when overlaid by a state highway. So when OH 2/Alt. US 20 head over a railroad east of Delta, the old road that used to have a grade crossing is a section of CR G. (H is north, F is south.) There are routes like EF and HJ when the county maintains a road between mile lines.

OH 2 briefly gets as important as four lanes in Oregon where it crosses I-280. (Yeah, this isn't the OR 2 page.) This is still not yet a freeway as I head out to Locust Point past the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (I have a weakness for cooling tower photos). We all know the Happy Hooker is a great photo op, but what you don't know is that it used to only have a single hook before the power plant was built...

OH 2 bumps out to a four-lane divided highway, but it's not until the old route turns off of it that it can become a freeway. This small piece of Lakeshore/old 2 is Ottawa CR 1, and then OH 163 takes over into Port Clinton. From there, old 2 only exists in pieces, the most notable of which is the old bridge approach to the east of the current Edison (Sandusky Bay) Bridge.

Now onto the freeway and through the OH 53 concurrency (ending just after the last photo).

Across Sandusky Bay, paralleling US 6 before it jumps on (in the last photo) for a very short ride. They meet again in Cleveland along with US 20.

Very randomly, the exit immediately west of I-90 has a number although none of the others on OH 2 do. I wouldn't mind if they all do, but clearly this is just a bit ridiculous. The last photo is of the Exit 10 ramp.
