New Mexico Roads - Business I-40, Moriarty/old US 66

Business I-40 in Moriarty, former US 66

All photos are eastbound.

Although this old shield specification is still used in Arkansas, it's rare pretty much anywhere else.

Have some old businesses.

Even rarer is New Mexican button copy, which may only exist in this one location. It dates to when US 66 exited town and picked up as I-40, i.e. before I-40 was built around Moriarty. As a result, traffic would be going from a city street onto a freeway, so warning like this was crucial to drivers' comprehension. It's still useful, since it sits on the EB onramp where Business I-40 ends.
