NJ 55

Northbound

Southbound

SB approaching NJ 47, and then NB just after leaving it, courtesy Scott Colbert. Wait, NJ 55 is a four-lane freeway. Yeah, and it was meant to continue eastward along the NJ 47-NJ 83 corridor, and so instead of that happening, environmentalists (or wetlands, pick your target) forced everyone onto a two-lane connector that goes a mile due south (instead of the ESE path of the freeway) and dumps everyone onto perennially clogged NJ 47 the rest of the way to the shore. NJ 347 and designated bypass routes along CR 550 (550... 55... coincidence?) relieve some traffic, but the rest of the freeway is badly needed.

Onto NJ 47
