New Jersey Roads - Camden CR 601

Camden CR 601

All photos are WB.

Only this photo is ugly.

The State St. bridge over the Cooper River. You may notice in the third photo that there's a small orb on the top right side of the bridge. This is an original traffic signal from the dawn of the 20th century, and was originally lit to show green (as it does now) when the bridge is open and red when the bridge is swung open by rotating 90 degrees. The light bulbs have burnt out and obviously are not going to be replaced.

Closeup of the signal on the western side of the bridge. There are very few, if any other, 100-year-old traffic signals left in the field.
