North Carolina Roads - NC 82

Either this was a sign blank that never got run through the machinery, or there's a number under there somewhere. Courtesy Adam Prince.

NC 82 EB used to end at this intersection, which was formerly US 13 to the left and right. 13 moved to a new South River bridge to the south, and NC 82 took over the remainder of the highway to maintain a connection. That means it turns awkwardly here by more than 90 degrees and then traffic continuing east on US 13 NB has an acute left turn. (The former is worse EB, the latter is worse WB.) That's all well and good, but why is there a stop bar? Does the stub have right of way over the state highway?
