Missouri Roads - US 66

One of US 66's many St. Louis routings involved Tucker Blvd. north from downtown. According to the 1929 police department headquarters building at Clark Ave., Tucker was originally just another line in the numbered grid.

The photo to the right is on Gravois Ave. (MO 30) EB at Grand Blvd. and the one atop the page is on 13th St. NB at Cass Ave., both in St. Louis. Cass Ave. is north of the MacArthur Bridge, US 66's original Mississippi River crossing, which was supplanted when the McKinley Bridge was built and later by the Poplar St. Bridge (now taken by the successor Interstates). The MacArthur Bridge no longer allows vehicles across, but still serves rail traffic.
