Massachusetts Roads - MA 39

NB with MA 124. That's an old milepost, and Massachusetts doesn't typically use any mileposts on regular state highways.

NB at Chatham Rd. in Harwich, looking a lot better than the similarly located shield above. Compare the two Harwich references and note how route numbers kept the old Mass. font longer than the rest of the sign.

In a few years, these can be reprinted and passed off as new!

Why was South greened out? Because MA 28 SB is actually facing north by this point, soon to end at MA 6A. That's what happens when a state decides to keep a route going rather than create a new one just because the direction changes dramatically.

Onto MA 124
Onto MA 28
