Massachusetts Roads - Barre Rd., Hardwick

Barre Road, Hardwick

Starting off from MA 32A and passing a church in central Hardwick.

If you like old signs, click for a closeup. Heading west, Barre Rd. splits into three branches. The name itself follows the southern branch as shown in this Depression-era sign, while Greenwich Rd. continues straight toward that former town (since covered by the Quabbin Reservoir). The northern branch, not shown, is a shortcut to MA 32A NB.

Continuing east to a bridge just before MA 32. If you really like old signs, this is the road for you. It has at least four more glass-reflector signs than almost every other road in the country. It also has a newer junction sign that doesn't work as a diamond but doesn't belong as a square.
