California Roads - I-15 SB - Temecula to San Diego

I-15 SB, Temecula to San Diego

Apologies, my photos were taken while heading northbound.

The case of the amazing disappearing CA 79. Why was it removed from the signs after it, when it still very much exists here?

Rancho Cal, nice and casual. It's "Calif" on most signs, which is a more unmistakable abbreviation.

The photo before last is courtesy Matt Kleiman.

Last photo is on the Exit 32 ramp.

Bear Valley Pkwy. WB in Escondido above CA 15, becoming Via Rancho Pkwy. after the overpass.

Looking west at Lake Hodges.

Miramar Way EB at I-15 Exit 13.

A major SB split, first photo courtesy Matt Kleiman and others courtesy Lou Corsaro. CA 163 is the old routing of I-15, and originally US 395 (which I-15 supplanted south of 395's current terminus). The modern routing of I-15 to end at I-8 is relatively recent, as of 1982. Lou's photos were taken in the midst of construction, so click on the middle two to see Matt's earlier versions with different arrows. (It's interesting that the "trucks" plaque in the last photo was moved halfway off the sign rather than being patched and replaced.)

The SB Exits 11-10 C-D road, third photo courtesy Matt Kleiman.

First 3 photos are courtesy Matt Kleiman.

Aero Dr. WB at I-15 Exit 8.

The last two photos are on the ramp to I-8 EB in San Diego, and all but the second one are courtesy Matt Kleiman. I-15 continues on to I-805, then becomes CA 15 until the merge with I-5 for reasons unknown to me (don't tell me it's substandard, because in 1957 that argument wouldn't have flown). Old Highway 395 follows I-15 more or less until getting past greater Los Angeles. The only exit signed for it like this is Exit 43.

And this sign is on the ramp to I-8 WB, taking the other fork of the Exit 6B ramp.
